Teeth whitening: creating a smile that dazzles

Are your teeth in excellent shape, but you wish they were a bit whiter? Have you thought about whitening your teeth, but aren’t sure of the best products? Maybe you’ve tried the over-the-counter teeth whitening strips or other products, but you’ve seen little or no improvement.

Future of Dentistry has the solution and we can deliver it just 1 office visit (approximately 1 hour) or, if you prefer, you can do it in the comfort of your own home with our customized take-home whitening kit.

We offer safe, effective teeth whitening solutions: in-office laser whitening and take-home whitening with custom-fitted trays.

Whitening works best for patients who have stained or discolored teeth. Foods, beverages, lifestyle factors, and even genetics can affect the color of your teeth.

If you are in a hurry and don’t have much time to wait for your dazzling smile, we proudly offer laser whitening.  This is completed in-office during a single appointment. This advanced technology is a combination of a powerful whitening gel and a low-heat lamp.

You will see near-immediate results — in approximately 1 hour, your teeth will be remarkably lighter — and that means you can obtain a whiter smile during your lunch break!

The second option is our customized take-home kits, which deliver the same brilliant results over about a 2-week period. We will make custom-made mouth trays in which you will apply the teeth-whitening gel. Most patients see incredible results within a 1- to 2-week period.

Straighten your smile with Invisalign® clear braces

Do you have crooked or uneven teeth that you want straightened, but you aren’t interested in traditional metal braces? The dentists at Future of Dentistry offer a perfect way to achieve straight teeth — Invisalign® for adults and teens. You may have heard this method called clear braces or invisible braces. Invisalign is a discreet alternative to metal braces, safely and effectively correcting misaligned teeth.

Our trained dentists use high-tech 3D computer imaging technology to create your treatment plan and a series of customized aligners made from a medical-grade polymer (plastic), which is safe and durable.

Your custom aligners are typically worn for a period of 6 to 18 months, depending on the severity of your case. Throughout this time, you change your aligners on a two-week basis. Each aligner is designed to slightly reposition your teeth gradually to create that straight smile that you deserve. Each week that passes by, you will notice your teeth getting straighter and straighter!

Our patients love Invisalign® clear braces for several reasons, including:

  • Quick, easy, and stress-free steps to get started!
  • Requires few follow-up appointments— we recommend an in-office appointment with us every 6 weeks to monitor your progress.
  • Removes easily so you can tend to your regular activities (eating, brushing, flossing).
  • Appeals to more age groups due its near-invisible appearance; it is an appealing solution for adults who do not want traditional metal orthodontic braces.
  • Produces incredible results that will always have you smiling!

Invisalign trumps traditional metal-and-wire braces by:

  • Preventing the painful and uncomfortable consequences of wearing traditional braces (i.e., mouth blisters, difficulty eating).
  • Eliminating the constant need to change rubber bands that come with traditional braces.
  • Removing the need to sacrifice certain foods when using Invisalign. With traditional braces, patients are advised to steer clear of peanuts, popcorn, and many other hard foods or snacks.

If you are wondering whether Invisalign is the right solution for you, come in for a free consultation with one of Future of Dentistry's dentists. We will happily evaluate your options so you can be on your way to enjoying the flawless smile you deserve!

All-porcelain crowns and veneers

Are you embarrassed by the unattractive dark lines you have near the edges of your dental crown? Do you wish there was something your dentist can do to remove them?

Here at Future of Dentistry, removing dark lines caused by crowns is one way we perfect smiles on a daily basis!

The unsightly dark lines naturally appear on your crowned tooth because of the metal underneath. Using metal allows the dentist to provide extra strength to your crown or bridge; however, when the metal becomes exposed, dark lines emerge. This is especially evident in porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns.

As reassurance, your natural teeth will never have this unattractive dark rim around the gum tissue. If you do have this problem, Future of Dentistry has the perfect solution: We can replace old dental crowns with all-porcelain crowns!

If you choose to fix the dark lines, we will remove your existing crown and replace it with a crown made of all-porcelain materials.

If you have multiple teeth that have dark lines, we recommend replacing all of the old crowns at the same time so we can customize and color-match your teeth with consistency and precision. That will help us give you a natural-looking smile.

If you are weighing the advantages and disadvantages of all-porcelain versus metal crowns, here are some considerations to bear in mind:

  • Porcelain crowns are strong and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Our all-porcelain dental crowns are good options for your front teeth, which are fully exposed every time you smile; whereas, metal crowns are better options for your molars (back teeth).
  • If you are allergic to metal, all-porcelain dental crowns are the best solution for you.

If you would like to fix your unpleasant dark lines, please schedule your appointment with us today.

Tooth-colored fillings

Do you have unsightly silver or dark-colored fillings that you desperately want replaced or upgraded? Would you rather have a filling that looks exactly like your natural tooth instead? Does the mercury in your mouth concern you?

Future of Dentistry offers a solution for these problems: tooth-colored fillings, also known as composite white fillings or composite resins. This is a significant upgrade option and delivers magnificent, attractive results. In fact, other people will not even notice you have a filling at all!

Our tooth-colored fillings are just that — fillings that mimic the natural appearance of your tooth. They are made from a resin (a silicon dioxide-filled plastic mixture) that is bonded to your tooth. These natural fillings are durable and beautiful.

Composites are color-matched to your natural tooth’s shade. They have a long lifespan — lasting from 7 to 10 years (depending on your at-home dental regimen).

With composites, we do not have to remove a substantial amount of your tooth structure. Future of Dentistry believes in conservative dentistry. We strive to keep as much of your natural tooth as possible, no matter which type of cosmetic dental procedure we perform.

  • The composite bond produces a strong support for your tooth, which means it’s less susceptible to breakage and temperature changes.
  • Composites have minimal, post-operative consequences. Some patients experience mild and temporary sensitivity immediately following the placement, but this subsides rather quickly.
  • If damaged, composites are easily repaired.

Avoid chewing excessively hard foods (raw carrots, ice, etc.) on the filled teeth, just as you would with your natural teeth. If swelling, intense pain, or a “high” bite (not correctly balanced) occurs, please call immediately.

The gum tissue might be sore for a few days following the procedure. Frequent consumption of alcohol might destroy them over time, so limiting your intake is beneficial for your oral health.

Composite white fillings transform your teeth to look natural and more appealing than traditional silver fillings.

Whether you have a cavity or would like a filling upgrade (need to replace your old fillings), we encourage you to call us for an appointment.

Tooth bonding

Do you have a chipped tooth or gaps between your teeth that you wish you could fix? Are you ashamed or embarrassed to smile because of stained or misaligned teeth? Future of Dentistry can make your wishes come true through bonding and contouring!

Our dentists perform bonding and contouring as a cosmetic restoration service to fix a slightly imperfect smile.

Cosmetic bonding is perfect for:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Slightly imperfect teeth
  • Decayed teeth (the resin will fill the cavity area)
  • Discolored teeth
  • Gaps between teeth (bonding will fill in these spaces)
  • Irregular shaped or asymmetric teeth (contouring will change the tooth’s shape)
  • An alternative to porcelain veneers (in some cases)

Once you opt for the bonding and contouring service, we will complete the procedure in 1 office visit (30 to 60 minutes per tooth) — quick, easy, and painless (often no shots required) with minimal prep-work!

The bonding material is composed of a liquid composite resin (durable plastic), custom-shaded to match your tooth’s natural color. The resin is comparable to sculptor’s clay. We bond the resin to the tooth’s surface in order to rebuild or touch-up the shape (or contour) of your tooth; hence the terms bonding and contouring.

This procedure is easy to understand:

  • We first roughen the tooth’s surface and apply a conditioning liquid, which enables the bonding material to fully adhere to the tooth.
  • Then our talented dentists creatively sculpt and apply the resin, and harden it with a curing light.
  • Polishing the bonded tooth is the last step in creating your beautiful smile!

We consider cosmetic bonding to be an affordable, aesthetically-pleasing alternative to porcelain veneers. If you are interested in the concept of porcelain veneers, but do not want them for any reason, we recommend bonding and contouring (provided you are a suitable candidate).

However, you should note that bonding typically only lasts from 5 to 10 years – assuming that you exercise effective and consistent at-home oral care. Furthermore, we may recommend touch-up teeth whitening or touch-ups to ensure that your natural tooth color matches the bonded area. This is because bonding does not change the color of your natural tooth enamel.

If you are ready to smile more confidently, make a bonding and contouring appointment with one of our highly skilled cosmetic dentists. We will happily perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine if you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic bonding and contouring.
